Since you probably weren't able to make it to the Meet the Candidates event in City Hall last night, here's a superficial rundown:
Steve Hiatt, your wife's cookies were amazing! Seriously, I loved them. However, you may have used the word "progressive" far too often for our simple and conservative community. And you didn't reference our beloved 4th of July and December Electric Christmas parades which was a bad move. You're young yet, kiddo, so we'll see you in a few more decades.
Web Programmer Guy, props to you for reading your opening statement because you were nervous and wanted to say everything just right. Unfortunately you came off as accusatory and unsure of your own stands later on. It didn't help when you seemed to be visibly annoyed when that lady yelled out from the back, "Speak up!" I need a councilman who will keep cool under pressure.
Patrick Buchanan, it just wasn't on tonight. Maybe it was the red power tie? I've forgotten what you said.
Mark Johnson, you crafty incumbent you. Since you're already on the council, you know just what's going on and what to say. You showed a lot of poise during the controversial "Should Kaysville build its own city pool question?" and warmed our hearts by your opening line of "I own the land to the Kaysville Cemetery so I'm going to be around a while." Bonus points for including a picture of you serving breakfast at the Bowman's July 24th Breakfast on your website; let's keep you in office.
Ron Stephens, why didn't you wear a suit jacket? I know the yellow shirt went with your campaign theme and it was cute seeing your grandson in the hallway with his bright yellow "Please vote for my Granpa" t-shirt, but you looked a tad bit out of place. Less relying on your superintendent career and more addressing the issues next time.
Richard Lenz, you're the man! I agree with your zoning issues and assessment of city debt, as well as that aforementioned pool debate. With your previous experience under your belt, you'll be a fine addition to our council. Congrats.

These are some serious and wide-spread issues. Good for you for helping to tackle them, Dan.
Just helping keep Kaysville "The City of Distinction" since 1850, thank you muchly.
