Morning News Wrap-Up, or What is the Important

Usually my morning routine consists of munching on a bowl of cereal while listening to some music and perusing the internet news in these outrageously oversized and comfy flannel pants I got for Christmas years ago. Younger me never would've imagined my affinity for this cereal or my daily fiber needs (maybe I'm intrigued by the advertising concept that Kashi cereals will somehow help the world overlook racial divisions and be smiling Good Friends? Most likely I just like staying full until lunchtime) mixed with a dose of news, but younger me also thought he was truly going to own a radio station where alternative hits from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Candlebox (shudder) would play 24/7. Grow up, younger me.

To be honest, though, maybe 42% of cereal/internet news time is keeping up with world events and 58% completely insignificant entertainment/music news. Sure I could post a picture of UNSG Ban Ki-moon shaking hands with now Nobel Peace Prize Winner Al Gore for timely relevance, but what got me thinking more this morn was this article referencing Conan's move to L.A. in 2009. I'm a bit bummed about Conan in L.A.--he's always been the quintessential New York figure to me and it'll be strange to not have that Empire State backdrop behind him out in Californy.

If I get the chance to see another taping of his next time I'm in New York, be sure to listen carefully for me yelling from the audience during Joel's introduction of tonight's guests "Conan, I believe you should stay here on the East Coast because the very thought of you broadcasting from Universal Studios and not Rockefeller Plaza may shatter a delicately forged schema forged since my formative teenage years."

They both look so serene and conflict-free, which I am sure is how the Nobel Peace prize winner (and diamonds) should look.

I am disappointed in Conan, really, it's like he is selling out to Donald Trump so that he can build a huge golf course. I wish he would show forth the sedulous spunk and refractory nature of Michael Forbes (who I read about this morning while drinking apple/carrot/lime juice)...I thought people from the Isles never gave up their land that easily!

Oh Conan!

Oh Conan indeed. You can hear that whistling through the Emerald Isle from the cliffs of Galloway to St. Stephen's Green in Dublin.

Cedric, it's good to have you here and you're too kind. I'm quite put out that you and Sarah are moving but it'll be fun to peek in on your blog. I'll put you on the link list right now as a matter of fact.
