Cheer Up, Sleepy Jean

Hearing this song on an infomercial the other night reminded me of two memories:

1) I was in a cabin with my parents when I was little and they were debating the lyrics while this played on the radio. I couldn't really follow what they were saying, but I thought the song was really sad and pretty. They then discussed who Miss American Pie was.

2) A kid wore a Monkees shirt to our fifth grade class and Josh said to him, "That's stupid--they're not even a real band!" Frank told him to shut up and put his head down on the desk. He never wore the shirt again.

Sorry, Frank. I still think it's a pretty song, if that helps any.

It is a terribly catchy song.

But I wouldn't worry too much about Frank: he was kind of a jerk as well.
